Business Insider에 따르면 The Wall Street 속편 사운드트랙에 Brian Eno와 David Byrne, 그리고 Talking Heads의 곡이 대거 포함되어 있다고 한다. 총 12개의 트랙 중에서 Eno와 Byrne의 곡들은 다섯 곡이다. 이 중에는 Talking Heads의 “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)”도 포함되어 있다.

David Byrne이 이탈리아 출신의 파올로 소렌티노(Paolo Sorrentino) 감독의 영어 영화 데뷔작인 “This must be the place“의 음악을 담당한다고 밝혔다. 영화의 주연은 Sean Penn이 맡게 되는데, 한 부유한 중년의 락스타가 은퇴 후의 권태감을 이기기 위해  그의 아버지의 사형집행인(미국으로 망명한 前나찌)의 행보를 추적하게 되는 캐릭터를 연기한다고 한다. 익히 알 수 있듯이 영화제목은 Talking Heads의 히트싱글에서 따왔고 개봉은 2011년 쯤 될 거라고.

David Byrne is into bicycling. Rock’s renaissance man has written a book about biking in cities around the world (2009″s “Bicycle Diaries”), he has designed bike racks for New York City and he will speak at a symposium on urban bicycling Thursday in Minneapolis with Mayor R.T. Rybak and others. It’s the next-to-last stop in a 15-city series he’s conducted since last fall. So we talked to the chief of the Talking Heads and Luaka Bop Records about bicycling.

David Byrne 이 자신이 작곡한 Talking Heads의 1985년 싱글 “Road to Nowhere”을 허락이나 여하한의 적정한 권리도 없이 무단 사용하였다는 이유로 플로리다 주지사인 Charlie Crist를 고소했다. 그는 이 공화당 주지사가 상원의원 캠페인에서 그의 정적 Marco Rubio을 공격하는 과정에서 웹사이트와 유트부의 콘텐츠에 그의 곡을 썼다면서 1백만 달러의 보상금을 요구했다. [관련기사 보기]

A rock opera on Imelda Marcos

His new album is possibly his oddest undertaking yet: a double CD rock opera about the rise and fall of Imelda Marcos. Over 22 songs, Here Lies Love describes Imelda’s journey from humble provincial girl to larger-than-life consort of Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos before their flight into exile in 1986. It comes with a 114-page book containing photos, lyrics and Byrne’s explanatory text, takes 90 minutes to listen to and knocks spots off Evita. 전문보기

Ride, Rise, Roar

David Byrne이 2008년에서 2009년 사이에 가진 ‘Everything that happens’ 투어 공연의 모습들을 담은 영상이 “Ride, Rise, Roar”이란 이름으로 만들어졌다. 이 필름에는 공연, 무대 뒤 장면, 인터뷰 등이 담겨져 있다고 한다. 텍사스 오스틴에서 프리미어를 가질 예정이라고… 트레일러를 보려면 이곳으로..

After his presentation, I asked him about his research, his upcoming projects, R. Crumb’s Illustrated Book of Genesis, and his run-in with the City of New York regarding the bike stands he designed. News Of The World가 Nine acts for 2009 에 David Byrne이 로얄알버트홀에서 펼친 공연을 4위에 선정했다.

THE Dumbarton-born art-rocker was supposed to be playing the new songs he’d written with Brian Eno. What he delivered was a brilliantly choreographed show, complete with tutu-clad dancers, that rewrote the rulebook again. He also rifled his Talking Heads past for hits like Once In A Lifetime, Take Me To The River and more. Result? Pure genius.
