As a member of Talking Heads, one of the hippest and most critically acclaimed bands to come out of New York in the 1980s, Jerry Harrison was at the center of what he fondly remembers as “a great downtown scene.”
“There was a wonderful cross-fertilization that was taking place between classical musicians like Philip Glass and rock musicians, photographers and dancers,” he recalled. “You were always meeting creative people. From the mid-’70s through the end of the ’80s, there was this amazing concentration of talent in New York.”
