‘Sand In The Vaseline’ 은 컴필레이션 앨범인 ‘Once In A Lifetime’ 의 익스텐디드 판이다. 이 앨범은 초기 시절 2개의 데모곡(‘Sugar On My Tongue’ 과 ‘I Want To Live’), 최초의 싱글 ‘Love -> Building on Fire’, 휘귀한 B-side 트랙인 ‘I Wish You Wouldn’t Say That’, ‘Sax And Violins'(원래 빔 벤더스의 ‘Until The End Of the World’에 수록되었던), 후기 앨범에 실릴려다 만 새롭게 믹스된 세 곡 등이 포함되는 등 Talking Heads의 모든 정규앨범에 대한 통시적 고찰을 담고 있다. ‘Naked’를 만드는 기간 동안 녹음된 인스트루멘털 트랙에 기초한 ‘Gangster Of Love’, 싱글’Lifetime Piling Up’, 그리고 ‘Speaking In Tongues’에서 실릴 예정이었던 ‘Popsicle’이 그 세곡이다.
